Team Saskatchewan returns home...

Team Saskatchewan returns home...

March 2, 2015

The Saskatchewan squash team returned from the Canada Winter Games today from Prince George, B.C. It was a special experience at the multi-sport games and quite a journey over the last 3+ years. Our province and our association is very proud of our team, as we were well-represented.

The team of men - Thomas King, Mateo Buitrago, Michael Mutschler and Calvin Truong - finished 7th.

The team of women - Emily Bardutz, Clarizze Perpetua, Diandra Gariepy and Sana Rehman - finished 8th.

Many thanks to all the athletes who trained hard, learned so much and gave a great effort.

Many thanks also to the support and commitment of coach Bob Wyma and manager Natasha Meger. The dedication to our sport, our association and to our athletes is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Jaycee Spagrud, who directly coached many of the athletes, and to Chris Martin, the prior CWG coach, who passed along his experience in many ways to our team.

The team had tremendous support from the families of the athletes, many of whom made the trip to Prince George to cheer our team on.

This was a wonderful, community effort.

Go Saskatchewan!
